Role Purpose

We're hiring engineers who want to kickstart their career in the heart of manufacturing - where the real product, the real people, and the real challenges are - and grow into the technical and operational leaders who will shape Corning's next 175 years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 25-50 operators and technicians during your shift, ensuring safety, quality, and production targets are met

  • Track and report manufacturing metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Coach, develop, and recognize your team - your success is measured by theirs
  • Manage day-to-day operations including task assignments, work checks, timecards, and payroll
  • Deepen your process expertise by working hand-in-hand with engineers on technology hand-offs, troubleshooting, and improvement projects
Work Hours
  • This role operates on a fixed rotating shift pattern - you'll cycle through all three shifts. We're upfront about this because it's a real consideration, and we want candidates who go in with eyes open.
  • Fixed rotating shift pattern: (1) Day Shift, 7am - 3pm, 1 day off.  (2) Swing shift, 3pm - 11pm, 2 consecutive days off.  (3) Night Shift, 11pm - 7am, 4 consecutive days off.
Experiences/Education - Required
  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Materials, Manufacturing, Electrical, etc.)
  • Genuine interest in manufacturing, operations, and people leadership
  • Willingness to learn quickly, ask questions, and apply solutions
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Comfort making decisions in dynamic, real-time environments
Skills- Desired
  • Engineering internships, co-ops, or undergraduate research
  • Leadership experience in any form - Teaching Assistant, sports team captain, senior design / capstone project lead, student org officer, ROTC, resident advisor, part-time supervisory roles
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement concepts
  • Process-improvement mindset - you naturally look for "how can this be better?"
