The Role

You'll lead the delivery of process safety projects from site engagement through to technical reporting, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The role includes:

  • Client management and proposal support - preparing fee proposals, scopes of work, technical reports and supporting tender submissions
  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced consultants - supporting team capability and contributing to technical development
  • Deskbased work alongside site visits across the UK - typically 1-3 days on client sites, with occasional longer visits depending on project needs
  • Crossdisciplinary collaboration - working with engineering, operations, EHS and other technical teams to resolve process safety issues
  • Business development - identifying opportunities to expand process safety and related services

Typical duties include:

  • Supporting development of process engineering standards, methodologies and procedures
  • Conducting audits and reviews of operational practices against documented procedures
  • Leading or supporting HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA studies (including scribe roles)
  • Conducting onsite surveys of chemical process plant and producing asbuilt documentation
  • Providing process engineering expertise for design reviews and EHS studies
  • Delivering consultancy work related to DSEAR
  • Ensuring client expectations are met in relation to quality, cost and delivery
  • Delivering projects to agreed deadlines and budgets

Additional areas for development include:

  • Preparation of COMAH Safety Reports
  • Semiquantitative risk assessments
  • Predictive COMAH submissions
  • Occupied Buildings Risk Assessments (OBRA)
  • Standalone consequence modelling
  • ALARP workshops and costbenefit analysis
