Job description

SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing/Project Engineer will be directly responsible for managing projects for Saturn Petcare NA. Projects will range from productivity improvements to capital investment projects for new machine/equipment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Responsible for Project Management and project teams
  • Preparing subcontractor reports as needed to keep Management informed of ongoing progress
  • Participating in supplier visits
  • Receiving, reviewing, and submitting documents for approval
  • Responsible for project costs and scheduling to ensure completion of project within budget and on time
  • Working with document control systems, project management systems and other software or databases to keep information flow up-to-date and accurate
  • Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks as needed
  • Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to install, monitor, test, and service equipment and systems.
  • Develop technical/engineering data and procedures for Preventive Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, trouble-shooting procedures, drawing updates, operating procedures, and improvements.
  • Direct on-site interface for equipment/system installation, testing, fabrication, and other project tasks as needed.
  • Provide technical info and evaluation for spare components needed for equipment, and systems consistent with existing/or successor components.
  • Comply with established production processes per SQF requirements.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping to include personal toolbox and job site during and at completion of tasks according to SQF Requirements.
  • Participate in supplier training for new and existing systems and equipment.
  • Drives continuous improvement efforts by identification and reduction of inefficiencies within the Engineering Department.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or related engineering field
  • Experience working with a team preferred.
  • Associate degree (A.S.) in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or related engineering field
  • 3- 5 years related experience considered.
  • Experience in controlling capital investment projects to include machine design with supplier, timing,
  • Budgeting and Project Management experience highly desirable control desired.
  • Basic working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates pride in workmanship.

Computer and Technology Skills:

Knowledgeable Microsoft office applications preferred.

Language Skills:

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. German language speaking skills is another advantage.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and ability to apply concepts such as: fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
