Co-op Student, Process Engineering - Augusta, Georgia
A temporary full-time opportunity awaits a motivated student at our Augusta, GA Nitrogen Operating plant for a 6-month term.
This role is open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work. Work will be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Outside the office, standard work wear will consist of hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and ear plugs, with other items as needed; these items will be provided.
Housing: Provided by facility with basic utilities

Summer/Fall 2027 (5/19-12/19)
Spring/Summer 2027 (1/5-8/14)
What you will do:
  • Steam Leak business case, prioritization, and repair oversight
  • MOC clean up.
  • Cooling Water survey and performance evaluation
  • Urea stormwater segregation and water management optimization
  • LTS Catalyst replacement support
  • Update, and maintain Process Safety Information (PSI) such as P&ID's, PRD Contingency Reports and Safe Operating Limit Documentation (SOL's)
  • Support (Operations) with process calculations and trouble shooting
  • Monitor unit KPI's (catalyst, exchanger, machinery performance) to identify problems and opportunities in the operating units with the goal of continuously improving production, efficiency, cost and environmental performance
  • Support Process Safety Event investigations and provide technical expertise for environmental release calculations

What you will bring:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors' degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent related program with a graduation date of August 2028 or later.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Must be able to work at heights, outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals
  • Must be able to hear and understand audible alarms, changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communications
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft's Office Suite
