Job Description
Position Overview
Seeking a motivated Wastewater Operator-in-Training (OIT) to support daily operations at a wastewater treatment facility and progress toward a Florida Class C Operator License.
Pay: $19-$21/hr
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Florida driver's license
  • Ability to obtain FDEP OIT registration
  • Ability to complete coursework toward Class C licensure
  • Basic math/science knowledge preferred

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and inspect plant equipment (pumps, motors, aerators, valves)
  • Record operational data (flow rates, tank levels, SCADA systems)
  • Collect samples and perform basic lab testing (pH, DO, chlorine)
  • Assist with chemical handling and treatment processes
  • Perform basic maintenance and facility upkeep
  • Maintain logs and follow safety procedures (PPE, confined space, lockout/tagout)

Licensing & Growth
  • Obtain Class C Wastewater Operator License within 24 months
  • Complete required training and gain on-the-job experience
  • Opportunity for advancement (Class B and A licenses)

Working Conditions
