Job description

This position has responsibility for the management of a geotechnical engineering team, consisting of both experienced and early-career professionals, primarily focused on Renewable Energy. This position executes functional and/or operational plans with a short to mid-term focus for area of influence; manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments; directs and appraises the work of subordinates; helps to resolve issues; participates in the hiring and selection process; and ensures appropriate training and resources are provided. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and makes decisions that impact functional area for situations that have a prior precedent, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts, resource management in defined areas), and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive department / business unit strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Ensure communication and engagement of strategic direction and goals with key groups.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders for the department / business unit.
  • Manage a team of professionals.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on the effectiveness of department / business unit efforts.
  • Accountable for the overall performance of the Renewable Energy team's operational, client and technical goals, for personnel that report in through the Engineering and Testing and Drilling divisions.
  • Accountable for decision making regarding items that apply to all personnel within the team you are leading (e.g. equipment, office engagement, local marketing, etc.).
  • Continually monitors financial performance of the Renewable Energy team by analyzing current and future Unit activities, costs, efficiency of operations, etc. and provides feedback to management on a regular basis.
  • Objectively evaluating employee performance and establishing and clarifying goals for staff. These goals must contain components of improving or enhancing technical or project management skills, and client service skill development.
  • Responsible for managing the appropriate personnel mix to achieve your teams goals (recruiting, hiring, firing).
  • Works with employees at all levels and, in particular other Unit managers/leaders and marketing staff, to set direction for client-related pursuits and marketing goals.
  • Directs client contracting in the office with respect to the Braun Intertec's Authority Grant Policy.
  • Monitors individual employee project management skills specifically as they relate to financial performance of projects and client retention.
  • Encourages and supports a work environment that allows for cross-functional, multi-discipline work teams in the interest of being the employer of choice and the consultant of choice.

$88,000.00 - $131,000.00
