The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes that improve quality, efficiency, and cost. This role drives continuous improvement, ensures robust process control, and partners cross-functionally to support production, new product introduction, and operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of process engineers through recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance coaching
- Identify competency gaps and develop team capabilities aligned with company standards and goals
- Standardize manufacturing strategies and best practices to support new product introductions and sustain mature production lines
- Oversee development and maintenance of robust process control plans to ensure product quality and performance
- Optimize process yield, productivity, and throughput through continuous improvement initiatives
- Own process yield performance and drive improvements through process changes, new technologies, or design for manufacturability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, IT, and R&D to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Support new product development activities, including design reviews, prototyping, and validation testing
- Lead engineering change management and execution of process improvements
- Ensure proper validation of product and process changes to support smooth operational transitions
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and validation records
- Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and equipment improvements in coordination with suppliers
- Partner with Quality to resolve manufacturing-related customer issues and ensure compliance with ISO and regulatory standards
- Maintain accountability for process quality, BOM control, and adherence to environmental and safety requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or process engineering environment with demonstrated results in process improvement
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading or managing a team
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, electro-mechanical assembly, and process automation
- Deep understanding of process control parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, torque, voltage, etc.)
- Proven problem-solving and root cause analysis skills across mechanical, electrical, and process systems
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab)
- Knowledge of ISO standards, audits, and quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100 preferred)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to leadership
- Self-driven, innovative, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
