Job Overview:
Cajun Engineering Solutions currently has an opening for an experienced Engineering Project Manager. The Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates engineering activities of designated project(s) to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. The PM will be responsible for performing all aspects of project management for moderately complex engineering project assignments ensuring total delivery of the services on time, within performance budget and quality expectations.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
• Manage projects successfully within the phase gated approach to project execution.
• Work with client team to define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in partnership with stakeholders.
• Meet regularly with client to ensure expectations are being met; ensure engineering activities comply with all company and contract requirements and support the overall schedule.
• Confer with project staff to outline work plan and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
• Responsible for ensuring all project deliverables are reviewed and checked in accordance with company and project procedures.
• Maintain control of the project by tracking and maintaining discipline progress and schedule commitments.
• Ensure that invoices are paid in a timely manner and Project Change Notices are processed.
• Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly through the Project Change Notice process and effectively championing Change Management.
• Understand and utilize the project tools that are available for project control.
• Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.
• Coordinate resource requirements with other ongoing project work and insure all parties' expectations are aligned.
• Responsible for the overall Project Management operation; plans, coordinates, directs and manages work activities of designers and engineers to ensure quality and consistency of work process and design across teams.
• Prepare project reports for management, client, or others.
• Act as liaison between company, client and subcontractors.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all events, discussions, and issues.
• Provide scheduled projections of the status of the project.
Basic Qualifications:
• Must have a proven record of success in managing FEL and FEED projects.
• Must have experience in or an understanding of managing EPC projects in Oil/Gas/Chemicals or related industry.
• Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.
• Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools.
• Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments.
• Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors.
• Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.
• Ability to delegate authority appropriately.
• Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability.
• Ability to set clear priorities.
• Demonstrated leadership ability with team orientation.
• Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
Ideal Background
• Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.
• Registration: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is preferred.
• Experience: This position requires 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.
