Job description

Emerald Technologies has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join its Salem, NH team in a fully onsite role! The Process Engineer is responsible for identifying and reviewing customer specifications and drawings to determine applicable process steps and cycle/lead times required to achieve product conformance in the manufacturing of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), sub-assemblies, cable and harnesses.

Responsibilities of the Process Engineer:

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive process, efficiency, and quality improvements.
  • Develop and optimize assembly processes, tooling, fixtures, and machine programs for PCBA operations.
  • Support New Product Introductions through design for manufacturability reviews, equipment readiness, and smooth production transitions.
  • Design and maintain manufacturing work instructions and process documentation.
  • Perform root cause analysis using data, inspections (AOI/X‑ray), and structured problem‑solving methods to resolve defects and returns.
  • Analyze process and machine data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide daily production support and train manufacturing personnel on processes and equipment.
  • Manage engineering change notices, deviations, and product change notices in compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, company policies, and engineering best practices.
Qualifications of the Process Engineer:
  • Minimum 4 yeras of experience in engineering, quality, or a related role within a printed circuit board manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001
  • Knowledge of SMT machines, thru-hole assembly and solder processes a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret assemly drawings, component datasheets, PCB documentation, and manufacturing specifications.
