Job Title
Gear Machining Process Engineer
Overview / Summary
We are seeking a Gear Machining Process Engineer to support manufacturing process engineering activities for gear machining operations. The role focuses on process improvement, quality compliance, manufacturing efficiency, launch support, and continuous improvement initiatives in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing process engineering activities for gear machining operations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and productivity
  • Complete PPAP quality launch documentation
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to improve manufacturing processes and products
  • Investigate manufacturing and supplier process issues and implement corrective actions
  • Lead and conduct process audits to ensure compliance with manufacturing guidelines
  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Develop process documentation and work instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes
  • Support capable process and tooling implementation for gear machining operations
  • Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, governmental, and environmental standards
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal audit activities
  • Identify throughput constraints and implement root cause improvements to meet production targets

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of related manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering and manufacturing processes
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Experience supporting quality and process improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work in a fully onsite environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with corrective and preventive action (CAPA)
  • Knowledge of quality control methodologies
  • Six Sigma methodology experience
  • Understanding of hypoid bevel gear processes including blanking, milling, grinding, heat treat, shot peening, and lapping
  • Experience with quality assessment tools such as QDAS and Minitab
  • Experience using gear CMM equipment
  • Experience with 8D and 5 Why problem-solving methodologies
  • Knowledge of lean tools including 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
  • Experience with DMAIC and DMADV methodologies
  • Experience with FMEA, PPAP, and DOE processes
