Job description

Process Engineer – Afternoon / Night Shift


Markdom International is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support our automotive manufacturing operations on an afternoon or night shift. This position will provide hands-on technical support to production, with a strong focus on plastic injection molding processes, troubleshooting, process optimization, quality, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor and can independently troubleshoot molding and process issues during off-shift operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on process engineering support for plastic injection molding and related manufacturing operations.
  • Troubleshoot molding defects, equipment/process issues, scrap, downtime, and quality concerns.
  • Establish, optimize, and maintain injection molding process parameters.
  • Support mold changes, startups, shutdowns, and new production launches.
  • Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Tooling, and Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Analyze process performance and implement improvements to increase quality, efficiency, cycle time, and productivity.
  • Identify root causes of recurring manufacturing problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain standardized processing conditions and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement activities focused on reducing scrap and improving OEE.
  • Assist with process trials, engineering changes, new tooling, and product launches.
  • Train and provide technical guidance to Process Technicians, Production Supervisors, and Operators.
  • Ensure processes comply with applicable safety, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Serve as a key technical resource for production during the assigned off shift.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in plastic injection molding or automotive manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting injection molding processes and manufacturing defects.
  • Strong understanding of process development, optimization, and root-cause problem solving.
  • Knowledge of injection molding machines, molds, materials, auxiliary equipment, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with automotive quality and continuous improvement practices is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions during off-shift production.
  • Engineering degree preferred; equivalent hands-on injection molding/process experience will also be considered.

Schedule

This position will support an afternoon or night shift. Candidates must be comfortable working an off-shift schedule and providing independent technical support to production.
