Job description

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for engineering matters related to planning, managing, and maintaining production methods and processes, including the selection of processes and application of principles to make products at a competitive cost.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Engineers Production Processes by following management’s instructions to help operations required to produce products; by organizing, planning, and maintaining production lines; tracking processes to ensure quality, cost, and efficiency requirements are met; handling equipment purchase and installation; and monitoring productivity.

· Ensures High Quality Production by troubleshooting problems with production and taking corrective action as needed; investigation operational problems affecting production; providing technical expertise and support; discussing and evaluating system failures with plant managers and non-technical personnel; and establishing and implementing a quality culture within the manufacturing environment.

· Continuously improve existing operations, and incorporating new methods and processes; researching the purchase of equipment or upgrades to existing equipment; meeting with managers and other engineers to discuss methods of improving the productivity of the existing systems; discussing ways in which the latest technology could improve the productivity rate of the manufacturing system.

· Coordinates projects, resources, and resolves engineering problems.

· Prepares documentation required for productivity and performance; improving work flow and cycle times to increase productivity; and any other documentation as requested by Management.

· Designs new products by applying engineering principles to design, develop, or modify products; using computer-assisted engineering software and equipment; and preparing or directing preparations of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.

· Support sales by preparing quotations; following up on customer claims; and supporting sales growth with more custom tool designs/simulations.

· Performs additional tasks and projects as assigned.


SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Keeps management informed by reporting problems immediately to the Assistant Manager and other members of Management verbally or in writing in order to avoid confusion and further problems.


COMMON JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Contributes to team effort by covering for other Staff as needed; by assisting in the transition of new Staff; by following internal policies and procedures such as ISO and OSHA; and by communicating business-related information to relevant Staff and Management.

· Maintains professional knowledge by maintaining up-to-date job skills; by proactively improving upon current job-related skills; and by learning new job-related skills as necessary.

· Acts on constructive feedback by using feedback from peers, Supervisors and customers to improve performance; and by recommending improvements to Department and Company work policies and processes where appropriate.

· Contributes to a safe working environment by reporting any unsafe condition immediately to Management; by following Company safety guidelines; by wearing necessary PPE and taking the appropriate precautions against injury; and by properly maintaining equipment as applicable.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Standard office environment. Some work in well-lit machine shop with moderate noise. Staff members will need do most work while sitting, but may be required to stand, climb, or crawl. Staff members will do seldom lifting.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to understand Company policies and procedures, safety guidelines, and general business documentation, forms and instructions

· Ability to verbally communicate

· Ability to apply knowledge and sense of understanding to carry-out detailed written or oral instructions.

· Ability to problem solve and communicate to management as needed

· Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, set up procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences
