POSITION DETAILS:

WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU
Requirements:
  • Lead fermentation strategies for the biorefinery.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement to improve process control, quality yields, and reduce defects.
  • Develop and use key measures that drive performance for each unit operation.
  • Develop process improvement plans based on data and communicate information throughout the organization.
  • Be part of the team that drives safety improvement and participate in the development of safety programs.
  • Participate in equipment specification and procurement for the biorefinery and provide technical expertise.
  • May be asked to facilitate investigations using techniques such a RCFA, FMCA, 5 why.
  • Provide technical support during unplanned events and planned outages.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4 Year Engineering Degree
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Minimum 3 years of process engineering experience in an industrial setting

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must wear and maintain company required Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to: FR pants/ long-sleeve shirt, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
  • Physically able to perform the following job essential functions, inclusive of but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, bending, walking long distances, lifting/pushing/pulling/carrying up to 50 pounds, work at heights, continuous work in confined spaces, ascend/ descend/ work from: stairs/ladders/scaffolding.
  • Must have the ability to work continuously in an environment inclusive of but not limited to: dust, loud noise(s), walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, outdoors, heat/cold, poorly illuminated areas.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute as a team member to develop the process for the biorefinery.
  • Help support and develop Process Flow Diagrams and P&ID's for the facility.
  • Develop and participate in PSM programs and general safety programs.
  • While in development, participate in engineering, procurement, and construction for the biorefinery.
  • Participate in process PHA and PSM audits and own action items.
  • Participate in planning and execution of plant commissioning activities.
  • Participate in operating procedure development.
  • Participate in the development of the standard operating conditions of the facility and consequence of deviation.
  • Understand and help develop material and energy balance.
  • Management of site process engineering resources.

ABOUT US:
The VERBIO Nevada Biorefinery, located in Nevada, Iowa (USA), is the first industrial scale renewable natural gas (RNG) facility in North America using agricultural residues as its feedstock. The plant is 100% owned by VERBIO North America Holdings Corporation.
RNG production from corn stover began in December 2021 with the completion of Phase I, at a capacity of 7 million ethanol gallons equivalent (EGE) per year. Upon completion of Phase II in the 4th quarter of 2022, the site began operating as a biorefinery, producing 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol and an additional 19 million (EGE) of RNG from stillage. The integration of RNG and ethanol production, unique to VERBIO, incorporates advanced operational technology currently practiced at the company's facilities in Germany. The process also yields humus, a soil amendment, and organic fertilizers.
