Crane Aerospace and Electronicshas an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer (level I or II; will depend on experience) at ourLynnwood, WAlocation.
This is an on-site position.
About Crane:
Crane Aerospace & Electronicssupplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. You'll find Crane Aerospace & Electronics in some of the toughest environments: from engines to landing gear; from satellites to medical implants and from missiles to unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
Job Summary:
The Process Engineer works under supervision and uses established procedures todesign, develop and implementnew technologies and processes in accordance with product specifications, equipment capabilities and regulatory requirements.The Process Engineeralso collaborates closely with Engineering to ensure successful handoff of new products, processes, and materials while providing technical support as needed, maximizes product performance by researching, testing, analyzing and verifying that materials will perform in manufacturing and environment, oversees materials shelf life to support quality metrics, participates in engineering design review and ensures customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
- Design, develop, and implement new technologies and processes related to product development and/or enhancements to current capabilities
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend new materials and technologies for use in the factory, including assessment of replacements for obsolete materials
- Conduct or supervise tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure their quality
- Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to determine causes of problems and develop solutions
- Use appropriate tools (CBS, statistical, DOE, FMEA, etc.) to assess, characterize, validate, and qualify new processes and equipment;Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration
- Provide technical and risk assessments on existing equipment and processes, and future developments and enhanced capabilities;Design and direct the testing or control of processing procedures
- Assess, design and develop tooling requirements as related toproduct build; if appropriate,workclosely with machine shop to ensure correct andtimely availability of hardware
- Generate technicalreports,Document proceduresand material specifications
- Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or product design objectives
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment related to new technologies or enhancements to current capabilities
- Review new product plans and make recommendations for material selection based on design objectives, such as strength, weight, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost
- Create or modify related documentation - procedures, work instructions, operational guides - as related to new development and/or process enhancement activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience:Process Engineer I: 0-2years relevant work experience; Process Engineer II: 2+ years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge:Understands fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program; Knowledge ofcommonly usedconcepts, practices, and procedures within the field; Other knowledge varies by division
- Skills/Abilities:Strong Statistics / Analysis / Problem Solving skills;Self-motivated / Ability to prioritize / Strong time management skills; Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of the organization;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and outside professionals;Basic ability to analyze and document analysis of materials and parts (i.e. fluid, corrosion, fungal and flame resistance)
- Education/Certification:BA or BSdegree inEngineeringdiscipline, i.e.Material,Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical
Eligibility Requirement:This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
