Job description

General Superintendent

The General Superintendent leads and oversees electricians and foremen in the field, managing team performance and keeping work aligned to project goals. The role supports the deployment and installation of Redwood's energy products, including battery energy storage systems (BESS), associated infrastructure, and solar. Superintendents are onsite daily during active work periods, which allows direct oversight of crew activity, early identification of issues, and full awareness of jobsite developments. The role also carries accountability for quality standards and safe work practices across every project phase, with an emphasis on proactive team management rather than oversight alone. This position is based at the Battery Materials Campus (BMC).

Hours
Full-time

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise assigned project work and coordinate across engineering, estimating, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure compliance with contract drawings, specifications, budget, and schedule
  • Lead electricians and foremen in the field, managing day-to-day performance, workforce development, and training needs
  • Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs, and production schedules, updating forecasts and adjusting work plans to mitigate project risk
  • Manage medium- and low-voltage electrical work and BESS installation
  • Review and interpret project specifications to support job setup, construction execution, inspections, and closeout in accordance with company and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements
  • Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, utilities, and regulatory agencies so that equipment, materials, inspections, and construction support arrive on schedule
  • Enforce safety, process control, and documentation standards across electrical systems, transformers, generators, and overall jobsite operations

Desired Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of construction supervision experience, preferably with an electrical contractor and ideally including BESS and commercial solar work
  • OSHA 30-hour certification required
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred

  • Experience with 3D model reviews, Navisworks, and clash reviews preferred
  • Willingness to travel or relocate to the project site for the project duration is preferred, with current projects in Illinois, Michigan, and Texas and additional locations planned
  • A Passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!
