Job description

Journeyman Electrician 

Location: Reno, NV
Pay: $37.50-39.50 
Per Diem: $90/day (for qualified travelers)
Schedule: Monday - Saturday, 10-hour shifts
Duration: Long-Term Project (6+ Months)

Job Overview

We are currently seeking experienced Journeyman Electricians with strong industrial and commercial controls experience for a long-term construction project in Reno, Nevada. Candidates must have hands-on experience installing, wiring, troubleshooting, and maintaining motor control systems and electrical control equipment in industrial or large-scale commercial environments.

This position offers consistent overtime, competitive pay, and per diem for qualified travelers. Electricians will work alongside other skilled trades to support the installation and commissioning of electrical systems, motor controls, and process equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, wire, terminate, and troubleshoot motor control circuits and electrical equipment.

  • Install and maintain motor starters, contactors, overload relays, and disconnects.

  • Install, wire, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and soft starters.

  • Assemble, wire, and test electrical control panels and Motor Control Centers (MCCs).

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, one-line diagrams, and control drawings.

  • Pull wire, install conduit (EMT, rigid, PVC), and perform cable tray installations.

  • Perform equipment startup, testing, and commissioning activities.

  • Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues using meters and diagnostic equipment.

  • Install and terminate low-voltage and control wiring for industrial systems and equipment.

  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with NEC standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.

  • Coordinate with project supervisors, engineers, and other trades to maintain project schedules.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, schematics, and control diagrams.

  • Experience bending and installing conduit.

  • Proficient in wire pulling, terminations, and equipment installation.

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and control systems independently.

  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.

  • Must possess reliable transportation and basic electrician hand tools.

  • Ability to work overtime and maintain excellent attendance.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.

  • Must be able to work safely around energized and industrial equipment.

  • Ability to wear required PPE at all times.
