Job description

Position Summary

The Market Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities throughout North America. This role combines technical sales, account management, and project coordination, working closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams in China to deliver competitive tooling and molding solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities with customers in the automotive, medical, home appliance, packaging, and other industrial sectors.
  • Identify prospective customers and build long-term relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Collect and review customer RFQs, clarify technical requirements, and coordinate with Wellmei's engineering and manufacturing teams to prepare competitive quotations.
  • Lead commercial discussions, contract negotiations, and pricing activities to secure new business.
  • Conduct regular customer visits, business reviews, and technical presentations across North America.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers throughout the sales process.
  • Coordinate internally to ensure timely responses to customer inquiries and project requirements.
  • Support resolution of customer concerns by working collaboratively with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
  • Represent Wellmei at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to generate new business opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to support strategic business development initiatives.
  • Achieve individual sales objectives and contribute to the company's overall North American growth strategy.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in:
    • Injection mold sales,
    • Plastic injection molding sales,
    • Technical sales, or
    • Project management within the plastics or tooling industry.
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Injection mold manufacturing
    • Plastic injection molding processes
    • Hot runner systems
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships and negotiate commercial agreements.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively within North America.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, including visits to China 1–2 times per year.

Preferred

  • Experience working in the mold, injection molding, or hot runner industry.
  • Previous experience with companies such as Husky, Mold-Masters, Synventive, YUDO, INCOE, or similar industry suppliers is an advantage.
  • Experience serving customers in the medical, packaging, or automotive industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.

  • Global Industry Resources – Access to Wellmei's long-established relationships with leading international suppliers of hot runner systems, mold steels, injection molding equipment, and other key manufacturing technologies.
  • Dedicated Project Management – Professional project managers coordinate tooling schedules, engineering changes, trial plans, sampling, and production progress to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Experienced Manufacturing Team – Support from more than three decades of expertise in precision mold manufacturing and injection molding for global OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
