Location: Durham, NC (onsite)

Duration: Five month contract

Pay rate: $26/hour

The Technical Support Team contributes to business by providing plants and seeds for use in chemical screening research. This screening and research plays a pivotal role in the invention and development process for new active ingredients and secondly it provides technical support for our existing range of pesticide products, which collectively generate over (USD)8bn of sales revenue each year.

The purpose of the Research Associate is to support Weed Control Research Biology on the SPS (Secondary Profiling Screen) platform by spraying and maintaining plants in the glasshouse in order to deliver timely, quality data to herbicide research projects

The job holder will work in the Trialling operations platform within Technical Support - Weed Control and will be required to spray and maintain herbicide bioassays in the glasshouse, using established and novel weed screening methods producing biology data to enable project decisions.

Accountabilities

  • Work independently and as part of a team while carrying out experimental work using established and novel screening methods

  • Maintain plants under glasshouse conditions for the duration of the test

  • Be accountable for work being done with precision, accuracy and efficiency

  • Perform all activities in accordance with the Syngenta Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy

  • Work efficiently in high-throughput team environment

  • Identify issues, non-conformities and report them

  • Accurately keep records and databases current

  • Can be involved in training of daily tasks

  • Good work ethic and works consistently in performing role

  • Proactive in identifying problems and assists in solving them

  • Shows initiative to improve WOWs of the screening platform

  • To quickly become proficient in the tasks and process of the Secondary Profile Screen

  • To produce high quality work, ie accuracy, consistency, completeness in an efficient manner To develop good working relationships with colleagues
