The Global Synthetic Process Technology Manager is responsible for providing technology solutions for the company's global synthetic spinning processes and coordinating projects with the Operations and Product Development teams. The primary focus is on the development, optimization and implementation of improvements in process efficiency, product quality, and the cost of poor quality for global synthetic nonwovens operations. The Process Technology Manager is responsible for directing and conducting projects in optimizing the polymer spinning processes, and final product manufacturing operations, and ensuring that all safety procedures are followed. The areas of operational and technical influence begin with the raw material acceptance and end with putting the product into the final package. The candidate for this role will work within a cross-functional, global team to achieve corporate, divisional, and departmental objectives in a collaborative environment across a broad range of industrial manufacturing facilities. This role requires direct management of 2-4 process engineers. Your Day-to-Day: - Lead and manage the Process Technology team to address project prioritization, technical resources and budget control to meet the EP business goals. Collaboration with the commercial, manufacturing and product technology teams is required for be successful - Conduct performance appraisals twice a year for direct reports and provide coaching and counseling as required to improve individual performance. - Optimize the spunbond process via data based approaches to process control, new equipment design, design modifications or SOP s to decrease equipment downtime time, reduced capital investment and improve overall FPY - Conduct plant trials to evaluate new and optimized settings and related equipment. Trials include EP TP preparation and submission, RACI chart, MOC documentation, budget control, coordination with Plant Ops team, equipment procurement, installation and trial operation and data collection - Commercialize new control approaches, or process equipment based on the results of these trials - Prepare final documentation covering assigned projects and issue an internal Research or Engineering report - Work safely in Plant operations and adhere to all Plant safety requirements - Identify best practices in forming, drying curing and winding technologies and implement across global Plants - Trouble shoot manufacturing problems associated with spunbond and provide technical support to Plant operations - Interface with product technology department to ensure that process and product projects complement or enhance product quality - Support new product development to establish appropriate process settings required to meet the product performance and quality - Ability to keep abreast of the latest technology trends and have the ability to apply new technologies to business problems where appropriate - May be required to perform other related duties as assigned What You Bring to the Team: - Bachelor's degree in chemical, manufacturing or material science engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience in engineering manufacturing management - Work experience in the Spunbond Spunlace Carding industry is preferred although similar work experience in the synthetic industry or other complex manufacturing industries is satisfactory - Expert knowledge in field of expertise - Ability to train, develop and motivate employees to assure operational flexibility and responsiveness, and increase technical knowledge - Ability to manage department budget and execute manufacturing technology project management and process optimization initiatives ranging from classical process engineering to advanced process controls - Ability to meet aggressive program deliverables, experience in cross functional teams - Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills - Ability to work both independently and in team environment - Ability to interface at all levels of the organization Benefits We offer a wide range of benefits to employees.
