Job Title: Residency Coordinator

Job Summary:

The School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, is looking for a Residency Coordinator to provide direct professional support for the university's teaching and/or educational service mission. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates all aspects of the annual Residency recruitment process.

  • Coordinates initial onboarding process, orientation, and annual program progression from Match date through graduation.

  • Serves as primary liaison to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office as it relates to the Residency program.

  • Maintains the various databases required for compliance, including ERAS, NRMP, ABA, and MedHub.

  • Supports the Education Manager with data collection, administrative management, and coordinating accreditation activities - ACGME site visits, internal reviews, annual program reviews, etc.

  • Coordinates program and fiscal policies related to residency needs at all training site locations, including the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH), Children's Hospital Colorado (CHC), the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center (VAMC), Denver Health Medical Center (DHMC), and others.

  • Provides administrative support and is a direct point of contact for residents.

  • Works in collaboration with the Program Coordinators, Education Projects Lead, Education Manager, and Residency Program Director to enhance the program and resident experience.

Work Location:

On-site to hybrid - This role is expected to work onsite initially for at least three months to train in the role and build and establish relationships, and is located in Aurora, Colorado. After three months, and upon supervisor's determination, the role will be considered for a flexible hybrid work schedule. Following the CU Anschutz Chancellor's requirement for employees to be on campus a minimum of three days/week, the supervisor is responsible for determining the required number of on-campus days/week (three or greater) based on the position's level of focus work, collaboration needs, etc. The Department places a high value on building working relationships and collaboration.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a related field from an accredited college or university

    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

  • One (1) year of professional experience in an academic setting or high-level customer service environment.

  • Senior level requires at least two (2) years of professional experience in an academic setting or high-level customer service environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated professional experience in an academic setting or high-level customer service environment.

  • Experience working in Graduate Medical Education (GME).

  • Organizational skills with the ability to plan and organize Residency needs and activities, establish work priorities, and provide follow-through to ensure completion of activities, both individually and by assisting others with work tasks.

  • Knowledge of, or ability to, become fully competent in computer programs essential to the Residency, including the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS), scheduling tools, and MedHub. Software used will continue to change, so adaptability to new electronic programs and tools is essential.

  • Ability to understand and apply regulatory requirements at the program level.
