Job description

G‑3 Chickadee—formerly part of Goodyear Chemical—is undergoing a major transformation. As a newly independent, Private Equity–backed organization, we are modernizing our infrastructure, implementing new systems (SAP, MES, cybersecurity), and building a strong operational foundation for continued growth. Local candidates preferred due to proximity to the worksite and interview/ onboarding logistics. Relocation is not available.

We are seeing a Process Control Engineer (PCE) to ensure the safety, reliability, & effectiveness of the various Process Control Systems in the Houston facilities (including the Distributed Control System (DCS)). The PCE will develop and implement long-range plans for Process Control within their respected facility with a focus on hardware/software upgrades, advanced control strategies and industry trends for instrumentation and operator interfaces.

In conjunction with other members of the operations team, the incumbent will interface with other functions including safety, environmental, process safety management, and product quality in support of safe, reliable and sustainable operations.

What You’ll Do

  • The PCE has responsibility for providing a reliable DCS system and implementing Control Strategies, which protect the health of the processes and people in the facility (EHS)
  • Responsible for setting the Alarm Management Protocols for the plant and developing methods to ensure compliance.
  • Support Data Historian to aid in compliance tracking for environmental control devices including flares, thermal oxidizers, & WWTP.
  • Interface with multiple disciplines to aid driving consistent & efficient production of product including troubleshooting/tuning control loops and aiding in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Develop specifications for field instruments, control systems I/O and architecture.
  • Will aid in leading a long-term strategy for upgrading obsolete control systems driving standardization & improvements where possible including development of capital budgets.
  • Monitor and maintain network systems and data historian.

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 3 or more years of experience in Process Control within the Petrochemical/Specialty Chemical Industry

Preferred

  • Masters Engineering degree in related discipline
  • Technical proficiency in basic Process Control Principles and Instrumentation acquired through education and experience
  • Familiarity with Control Systems (including Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers and Network systems)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and foresee technology requirements especially in a Business Continuity situation
