Job description

Role Summary

Our client, a large and well-established global manufacturing organization, is seeking a Process Control / Automation Engineer to support ongoing modernization and automation initiatives across its facilities. This role is a backfill for a recently vacated position and carries high urgency due to upcoming projects.

The position offers a mix of programming, troubleshooting, and project-based work, with exposure to both plant-floor operations and engineering planning. The organization is actively expanding its automation capabilities, including increased adoption of robotics technologies.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, program, and maintain PLC-based control systems (approximately 50% of role)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process control and automation issues across facilities (~20%)
  • Lead and support automation projects, including planning and execution (~30%)
  • Support multiple regional manufacturing sites, including coordination with additional U.S. facilities
  • Participate in system upgrades, plant automation initiatives, and future robotics integration
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve process efficiency
  • Travel to facilities as needed (average ~20%, higher during commissioning/start-ups)
  • Occasional international travel opportunities

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in process control within a manufacturing environment (e.g., chemical, food, or similar industries)
  • Hands-on experience programming PLC systems, ideally Allen-Bradley and Siemens
  • Strong troubleshooting and systems integration experience
  • Experience with process control system design
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, preferably Ignition
