We are seeking an experiencedProcess Automation Engineerto join the Marlborough Automation & Process Control (A&PC) team. This role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the site's automation infrastructure, including the Emerson DeltaV DCS, GE and AllenBradley PLCs, and associated instrumentation. The engineer contributes to automation-related safety, project execution, compliance activities, and continuous improvement programs

Responsibilities

  • Part of site Automation and Process Control (A&PC) team responsible for day-to-day support of manufacturing plant operations
  • Provide timely support to production units, including participation in an on-call rotation as required
  • Configure, troubleshoot and maintain Emerson DeltaV DCS, GE and Allen-Bradley PLCs
  • Understand the manufacturing process and data analysis to troubleshoot and lead root cause analysis (RCA) for automation-related events
  • Provides technical expertise to support the following: Capital projects including Statements of Work (SOW), Design Reviews, Construction, Acceptance Tests, Commissioning, and Safety Reviews
  • Identifying new process control improvement opportunities for site manufacturing processes
  • Ensure automation changes follow Management of Change (MOC) procedures

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in automation, process control, or instrumentation in chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or industrial manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV Programing and OPC Communications. Knowledgeable on PLCs, HMI configuration, and Data Historians (Aspen IP21 or OSI PI)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of chemical process requirements and experience with standard process control methods
  • Experience in the writing of functional requirement documents for process automation projects
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
  • Must be able to meet site safety requirements. Use of PPE - personal protective equipment, adherence to safety standards and processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with GE and Allen-Bradley PLCs
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot industrial networking and communications protocols (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Modbus, etc)
  • Working knowledge of Visual Basic or object-oriented programming for automation tasks, scripting and customized engineering tools
  • SQL Database experience - developing database queries and incorporating data into HMI
  • Expertise in design and support of automated process equipment including robotics, barcoding, and inspection systems (vision and scanning)
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) elements such as PHA, SIS devices and alarm management
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, electrical schematics, and control logic documentation
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD electrical
