Position Summary [Full-time: 10am-6:30pm Monday-Friday]


The Sterile Processing Assistant performs decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of instrumentation and medical equipment for surgeries and procedures, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process.


Essential Functions


Patient Care:

• Maintain proper sterile technique.

• Proactively distribute all necessary equipment and instrumentation for surgeries and procedures.

• Collect used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination.

• Accurately handle and care for instruments, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents, lubricants, examination for function, identification, and assembly.

• Recognize instruments that are damaged and in need of repair.

• Prepare and pack decontaminated supplies for sterilization.

• Operate, perform maintenance, and troubleshoot sterilization equipment.

• Assemble, disassemble, and disinfect operating and procedure rooms.


Education and Experience


• Certified Sterile Processing License preferred

• 2 years of veterinary experience is preferred.

• At least one year of sterile processing or surgical technical experience required

• Strong attention to detail.

• Effective communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to prioritize, time manage, and critically think.

• Capability to work well in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
