Job Title: Legal Secretary

Location: New York, NY 10022

Salary/Payrate: $35/HR to $45/HR hourly rate 

Work Environment: Hybrid (#3 of days WFH)

Term:  Contract (4 to 5 months)

Job Description: 

Our client, a nationally recognized full-service law firm serving clients across media, technology, intellectual property, labor and employment, corporate transactions, litigation, regulatory, real estate, tax, and private wealth matters, is seeking a Legal Secretary on a contract basis at their offices in New York City. The term of the engagement will be 4 to 5 months, and the role will pay an hourly rate of $35/HR to $45/HR, dependent on experience. This role will allow for a hybrid work week with 2 days onsite and 3 days remote.


Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and legal secretarial support to multiple attorneys
  • Prepare, revise, format, and finalize legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, reports, prep binders, and presentations
  • Perform advanced document formatting in Microsoft Word, including redlining, blacklining, tables of contents, tables of authorities, footnotes, and document comparisons
  • Responsible for handling state and federal court e-filings
  • Maintain and organize electronic case files in iManage and Practice Support Folder
  • Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate Zoom meeting or conference calls
  • Track litigation deadlines and update docket and case status reports
  • Arrange travel and conference registrations as needed
  • Process expense reimbursements and other administrative requests
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, vendors, and internal staff

 


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation legal secretarial experience
  • Helpful to have strong knowledge of litigation terminology and court filing procedures
  • Experience with New York State and Federal Court e-filing strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work effectively under tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with document management and billing systems such as iManage, Intapp, or Aderant is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
