Job description

Our client is an established, privately held, growing, New York-area government contractor. Our client’s focus is in providing Information Technology (IT) Services to city, state and federal government clients. We are currently seeking an experienced Business Development Manager, IT Services - Public / Government Sector Vertical to expand and further develop the company’s IT Infrastructure services offering. Reporting to the VP IT Infrastructure Services, the position is responsible for growing IT Services revenue and client growth.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of relevant IT business development experience with either a technology hardware provider, IT Managed Service Provider or IT Infrastructure Services company that provides technology or IT services to government clients. Prior successful experience expanding offerings with existing clients and generating new revenue. The successful candidate must possess excellent IT technical knowledge, effective influencing and communication skills, and an understanding of government customers and contracting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Business Development

    • Develop new IT Services business opportunities, primarily in the New York City Metro Area. Expand IT offerings with existing clients, follow-up on referrals and develop business with new clients.
    • Understand client needs and requirements to position services as a solution to meet those needs.
    • Grow and expand the company's existing customer base.
    • Prepare, review and deliver proposals, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA), Master Service Agreements (MSA), Statements of Work (SOW) and other documentation to clients or prospects.
    • Attend trade shows or conferences to promote the company's offerings.

    Customer Management

    • Consistently engage with clients in maintaining relationships to ensure high levels of satisfaction.
    • Assist with hosting quarterly business reviews with clients working to incorporate further IT services offerings..

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, Marketing or closely related field. Additional IT certifications and technical sales training desirable.
    • 5+ years of relevant IT business development experience with government clients in the Public Sector or Federal, State, Local & Education (FED/SLED) vertical. Prior experience working for either a technology provider (Dell, Lenovo, HP, etc.), IT Managed Service Provider or IT Services company working with government clients required.
    • Demonstrated customer development and relationship-building skills.
    • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills with clients, team members, technical staff, and management. Able to interface, communicate and build relationships with team members and all levels of management on an ongoing basis and work as a trusted technology professional.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for use in communication, presentation preparation and analyses & tracking.
    • Strong understanding of the latest, best-in-class technologies and protocols including network security (including encryption and authentication technologies), cloud solutions and cybersecurity.
    • Understanding of government contracting practices, processes and standards.

    • Must be able to pass a required background check and/or security clearance to work on government projects.

    POSITION LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
    Hybrid role in New York, NY. Must be able to commute 3 days / week into New York City and travel within the greater New York, NY metro area for client meetings and site visits. May attend trade shows or conferences to promote the company's offerings. Minimal overnight travel required.

    TEAM RESPONSIBILITY:

    Serve as a key revenue generator of IT Infrastructure services for the company. Collaborate with internal team members and external clients. Mentor team members.

    RELOCATION ELIGIBILITY:
    No relocation assistance provided. Local, qualified New York City metro area candidates will be given preference and priority. Qualified candidates willing to self-relocate to the New York City metro area will also be considered.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS INFORMATION:

    • Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
    • Variable Pay: Results-based performance commission / bonus.
