What is the opportunity?

As the Senior Manager, Privacy Program Governance, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing RBC's Global Privacy Program. Working collaboratively with Global Privacy Office team members and RBC Segment and Function partners and stakeholders, you will help drive consistent privacy risk management practices and strengthen privacy governance across the organization.

What will you do?

  • Lead the review, maintenance and periodic refresh of privacy program documentation, including policies, standards, procedures, notices and supporting governance resources, ensuring Privacy Program governance documents reflect regulatory, operational, and reputational privacy risks.

  • Monitor emerging privacy law, regulations, regulatory guidance and industry developments to assess potential impacts to the Global Privacy Program.

  • Lead privacy impact assessments and assess the impact on privacy program requirements, governance, processes, and privacy applications.

  • Partner with key stakeholders to support privacy risk management program requirements and regulatory compliance.

  • Lead the annual review and update of Privacy's mandatory training course.

  • Manage the governance and oversight of Privacy Program-owned controls, including control design, documentation, testing coordination, etc.

  • Support strategic and transformational initiatives, that create efficiencies, reduce administrative burden, and strengthen risk management practices.

  • Assist with BAU privacy program activities as required, including reporting, technology enhancements, risk appetite and thematic risk reviews.

  • Establish and maintain Privacy Program Governance processes and procedures.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • University bachelor's degree

  • 5 + years' experience working in privacy program governance, privacy advisory, legal, compliance, or a related discipline.

  • Strong understanding of privacy and data protection principles and regulations including PIPEDA, GDPR, CPRA/CCPA, etc.

  • Experience interpreting regulatory requirements and developing and maintaining policies, standards, procedures, and frameworks.

  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication and strong stakeholder management skills

  • Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in the financial services industry

  • CIPP/C, CIPP/US, CIPP/E and/or CIPP/A

  • Project Management experience

  • Bilingual French/English
