Job description

About the team + role

We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world's biggest financial problems. We're looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn't a place for complacency, it's where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We're a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.

The Privacy Engineering team's mission is to protect the trust of our customers by embedding privacy into every layer of Robinhood's technology and culture. We collaborate across Engineering, Product, Legal, and Compliance to make sure privacy, data governance, and security are integral to every initiative.

As a Privacy Engineer, you'll lead privacy reviews, guide the design of privacy-enhancing technologies, and help scale our privacy-by-design programs - while also championing the use of AI and agentic tooling to transform how the team runs privacy operations and processes.

This role is based in our New York, NY office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What you'll do
  • Conduct detailed privacy architecture reviews to identify potential risks, recommend controls, and ensure privacy-by-design is built into every technical layer
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Legal, and Compliance to implement privacy-by-design in systems, applications, and workflows from inception to launch
  • Build and use AI agents and sub-agents to automate and scale privacy operations
  • Guide the selection and deployment of privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), ensuring alignment with our technical architecture and regulatory requirements
  • Advise stakeholders and adjust practices to maintain compliance in alignment with development in global privacy regulations, standards, and technologies
  • Lead internal efforts to share best practices and increase awareness of privacy principles across engineering and technical teams
What you bring
  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field
  • You bring 2+ years of experience in data privacy, security, or privacy engineering, including hands-on work with privacy architectures
  • You're highly proficient with AI, with hands-on experience building and utilizing agents and sub-agents to solve real operational or technical problems
  • You've managed both technical and operational processes at the same time, and know how to prioritize when things move fast
  • You're familiar with regulatory frameworks like GLBA, GDPR and CCPA and understand how to apply them to technical systems
  • You've worked with privacy-enhancing technologies and understand data anonymization and secure data lifecycle practices
  • You're a clear communicator who builds strong cross-functional partnerships, including with legal teams, and can explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
What we offer
  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career.
  • Performance-driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, equity ownership, and 401(k) matching.
  • Best-in-class benefits to fuel your work, including 100% paid health insurance for employees with 90% coverage for dependents.
  • Lifestyle wallet - a highly flexible benefits spending account for wellness, learning, and more.
  • Employer-paid life & disability insurance, fertility benefits, and mental health benefits.
  • Time off to recharge including company holidays, paid time off, sick time, parental leave, and more!
  • Exceptional office experience with catered meals, events, and comfortable workspaces.
