Job Summary
This position is under the direction and supervision of a licensed, registered dietitian nutritionist.The Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing nutrition care and education to patients and/or caregiver(s). Evaluates patients' nutritional status, develop and implement care plans, assess nutrient requirements, recommends nutrition prescriptions, evaluates patient tolerance and effectiveness, as well as communicates information to physicians and other health care professionals.

Essential Functions
  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
  • Coordinates, reviews, plans, updates, and implements medical nutrition therapy to patients according to established policies and procedures.
  • Monitors patients receiving nutrition support.
  • Provide nutrition education to patients, caregivers, staff and community partners.
  • Serves as a preceptor for medical, dietetic and food service interns and/or clinical research.
  • Participates and serves on interdisciplinary team meetings, patient rounds, multidisciplinary committees and/or discharge planning.
  • Assist with performance and quality improvement projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education - Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Experience - No previous experience required

In Lieu Of
  • If hired on or prior to December 31, 2023, must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in nutrition or dietetics AND Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian in the state in which work is performed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Maintain 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years
  • Ability to interpret data, teach, communicate to other healthcare professionals, manipulate numbers and write in medical record
