Job description

Overview

BRMi is seeking a Print Operations Technician II to support high-volume print production and finishing operations. This role is responsible for operating digital printing and bindery equipment, completing scheduled and on-demand print projects, maintaining production equipment, and ensuring finished materials meet quality and delivery requirements.

This is a hands-on position working in a warehouse/production environment with exposure to loud machinery. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities
  • Produce and deliver high-volume scheduled and on-demand print projects.
  • Review incoming print production work orders and evaluate size, complexity, finishing requirements, and deadlines.
  • Prioritize production work to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Coordinate with leadership regarding daily production schedules and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Access and process print-ready electronic files using appropriate materials and production equipment.
  • Operate digital press, printer/copier, bindery, finishing, and related print production equipment.
  • Utilize print imposition software to arrange layouts and maximize production efficiency.
  • Produce digital or hard-copy proofs for approval prior to final production.
  • Monitor work throughout the production process to ensure quality, accuracy, efficiency, and schedule requirements are met.
  • Identify production errors, equipment issues, and workflow problems and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Package completed projects for shipping and verify required documentation.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance on printing and bindery equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems, complete minor repairs when appropriate, and coordinate service needs with leadership.
  • Maintain inventories of print materials, equipment supplies, and maintenance items.
  • Record and report equipment meter readings as assigned.
  • Operate material-handling equipment and other equipment required to support Print Operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical assistance to other team members regarding bindery assignments and equipment setup.
  • Escalate recurring workflow, operational, or equipment issues to management.

Qualifications
  • Experience operating and maintaining bindery or print finishing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of commercial or high-volume printing and bindery processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret print specifications, work orders, and production instructions.
  • Ability to measure proof sheets and verify trim, fold, and finishing margins.
  • Ability to operate specialized equipment functions, including merging color copies, tabs, and text copies.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for print production and bindery equipment.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple production assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a production team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to print quality and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment when resolving production issues.
