Printing Assistant
Position Summary
Schneller is seeking a 2nd Shift(3:00pm -1:00am) Printing Assistant to support the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of printing equipment and related production processes. This role assists with equipment setup, material handling, production support, quality inspections, documentation, cleanup, and routine maintenance activities within the assigned work center.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting production schedules and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support Schneller's values and commitment to producing high-quality products through safe and reliable processes.
  • Assist with the setup, adjustment, operation, and cleanup of designated printing equipment according to established procedures and work instructions.
  • Load, unload, stage, and handle materials needed to support daily production activities.
  • Monitor product quality during processing and perform required inspections and checks.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, production, and operating procedures.
  • Help maintain production flow by supporting printing operations and assisting team members as needed.
  • Identify and report quality, safety, equipment, or production concerns to the Production Supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  • Complete required electronic and paper documentation accurately and on time, including material transactions, time sheets, daily logs, NCRs, ECRs, and work order travelers.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning and routine maintenance as directed.
  • Report maintenance needs through established processes to the Maintenance Department and Production Supervisor.
  • Communicate any deviations from Process Engineering Guidelines or needed changes in processing specifications to Process Engineering and the Production Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and share suggestions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Work cooperatively with team members and other departments to meet production goals and customer requirements.
  • Safely operate auxiliary equipment associated with the work center, which may include occasional operation of a powered industrial truck/forklift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience
  • Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • For internal candidates, a minimum of one year of experience with Schneller is preferred, along with demonstrated leadership qualities.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate various production equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to provide training, direction, and oversight in a clear and professional manner when needed.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work independently to support production activities.
  • Ability to understand and apply business procedures and policies, including those related to quality, production, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to learn and follow Schneller production processes, work instructions, written policies, and procedures.
  • Basic to moderate computer skills, including the ability to use ERP and other business systems to record transactions, access production information, and complete required job activities.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Mechanical aptitude required to assist with equipment setup, adjustment, operation, and troubleshooting to meet quality requirements.
  • Strong sense of urgency, focus, and flexibility to adjust priorities as needed to meet production and on-time performance goals.

Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation. Requirements may vary depending on work center or assignment.
  • Ability to safely operate a powered industrial truck/forklift and/or manufacturing equipment for 8-10 hours per day.
  • Ability to stand in place for 8-10 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the scheduled workday.
  • Position may require occasional sitting to perform repetitive motions while using a computer or office equipment.
  • Ability to walk throughout an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, climbing, fine motor skills, and grasping/squeezing may be required.

Additional Requirement
Certain assignments may require an annual eye examination with written documentation of adequate vision to detect minute flaws in material, with or without corrective lenses, including successful completion of Farnsworth Munsell Color Vision Testing.
