Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented CPG Packaging Designer to join a dynamic creative team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end packaging design process, from structural development and material selection through final print production for retail and consumer-facing product lines.

You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure packaging solutions meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, manufacturability, and brand consistency. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative packaging initiatives while supporting product commercialization and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

Packaging Design, Development & Commercialization

  • Create 3D packaging mockups for internal reviews, presentations, and stakeholder approvals.

  • Develop packaging structures, dielines, material specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical packaging documentation.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams during packaging line trials and production start-ups to ensure successful execution of design and structural requirements.

  • Travel to printing vendors for press checks and production oversight as needed (approximately once per month).

Optimization & Sustainability

  • Identify and lead packaging cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and technical requirements.

  • Ensure packaging complies with regulatory, legal, and brand standards.

  • Evaluate and implement sustainable packaging materials and solutions that support environmental objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management

  • Manage packaging projects from concept through commercialization and product launch.

  • Build and maintain project timelines, communicate milestones, and identify potential risks.

  • Coordinate directly with printing vendors regarding materials, finishes, structures, and production specifications.

  • Collaborate with the broader creative team on additional design projects, including marketing collateral, presentations, and digital assets.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in CPG packaging design.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Strong understanding of packaging production processes, print specifications, and packaging materials.

  • Experience creating 3D mockups using Blender or comparable 3D design software.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Comfortable traveling to vendor facilities approximately once per month.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Canva for internal content creation and template design.

  • Familiarity with AI-powered design tools such as Adobe Firefly or similar platforms.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.

  • Experience within the food & beverage or broader consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.

  • Exposure to packaging commercialization and manufacturing processes.

What the Organization Offers

  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and market standards.

  • Hybrid work schedule offering flexibility and collaboration.

  • Opportunity to work on innovative consumer products and packaging initiatives.
