Job description

Summary
Serves as a leader in the assistant superintendent's organization; can manage all aspects of instructional, management, administration, and advocacy, consistent with Division goals, policies, and procedures. Provides leadership, direction, support, counseling, coaching, and assistance to principals and supports an assigned group of schools and/or centers based on need as identified by the Division Superintendent or his designee.
Qualifications
Required
  • Master's degree.
  • Six (6) years of experience in teaching and administration or supervision, with four (4) years of administrative experience, some of which shall have been at the principal level.
    • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Postgraduate educational license with endorsement(s) designated as appropriate to the assignment.
  • Administration and supervision Prek-12 endorsement.
  • Knowledge and application of the PreK-12 principles, practices, methods and techniques, of public school administration.
  • Knowledge of research and current trends in school turnaround and public school education.
  • Well-established record of school turnaround and application of school improvement plans.
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of schools.
  • Ability to supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop an effective working relationship with the schools and department staff, governmental leaders, outside advocacy groups, and community members.

Major Duties/Essential Functions
  1. Supports a region or school improvement organization, as assigned.
  2. Manages instructional and special programs and all affairs related to school administration, including, but not limited to, human, material, and financial resources necessary to ensure compliance with school division policies and legal requirements and alignment with the Strategic Plan.
  3. Serves as an instructional and administrative leader, providing leadership, direction, high quality feedback, and support to principals.
  4. Ensures that instructional and curricular programs approved by the School Board are fully, appropriately, and equitably implemented.
  5. Assesses school needs and effectiveness and collaborates with administrators to develop long- and short-range plans for assigned schools.
  6. Works with school principals to identify, plan, develop, coordinate, and implement objectives for school improvement plans and to prepare recommendations for improved student achievement within advanced, general and special student populations.
  7. Facilitates innovation to improve instructional practices and coordinates pilot programs.
  8. Serves as a mentor and coach to school-based administrators as indicated within an assigned geographic region.
  9. Assists with the preparation of oral and written communications.
  10. Identifies and coordinates professional growth opportunities for staff.
  11. Provides input and assists as needed with principal evaluations and recommends appropriate action for performance issues.
  12. Identifies and encourages individual school-based instructional staff members with leadership potential.
  13. Acts as an advocate for assigned schools, engaging the community in the development of individual school programs; responds to family and community group issues/concerns; and participates in family/community meetings.
  14. Recognizes, and is sensitive to, the multicultural needs of schools, staff, and community, and provides essential feedback to the regional assistant superintendent, deputy superintendent or executive director, helping to ensure equitable outcomes for all students.
  15. May act as a liaison with Division departments, appropriate government agencies, and professional groups.
  16. May serve on advisory boards and committees.
  17. May represent the region or Division at national, state, and local meetings.
  18. Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Per the FCFPSA collective bargaining agreement, telework may be approved in limited circumstances as defined by Regulation 4417.
