Job description

Director Infection Prevention, RN

A Director of Infection Prevention, RN is a registered nurse who leads an infection control program within a healthcare facility, overseeing all aspects of preventing healthcare-associated infections by developing and implementing evidence-based strategies, monitoring infection rates, investigating outbreaks, educating staff on proper infection control practices, and ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.

The Director Infection Prevention is responsible for the effective development, implementation, evaluation and surveillance of organizational infection control initiatives, standards and compliance. This position is also responsible for the direction of the operation of the infection prevention and control/epidemiology department, including education of Team Members and consultation with the organization, CDC, and the county and state health departments. The responsibilities encompass compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations, outbreak investigation, and overall direction of the infection prevention and control program.

Qualifications

Education Required:

Bachelor's Degree Required

Education Preferred:

Master's Degree in Public Health, relevant experience considered in lieu of education

Experience Required:

At least 5 years of relevant experience with progressive responsibility. Experience in Nursing with Epidemiology/Infectious Diseases and Methodology focus. Departmental management experience.

Knowledge of data collection, trending, analysis, and presentation

2+ years in leadership experience

Culture of the facility/unit: very busy 612 bed academic medical center with a Children's Hospital. This candidate must have experience in leading an infection prevention department and/or program at a Large Acute Care Facility

License/Certification Required:

Registered Nurse with Certification in Infection Control required; active Georgia Registered Nurse licensure, may obtain within 6 months of hire
