We are seeking an experienced Pressroom Foreman to lead and oversee pressroom operations during assigned shifts. This role is responsible for supervising personnel, ensuring product quality, maintaining equipment and facility standards, and driving efficient production in a fast-paced web printing environment.
This is a third shift position with hours from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise pressroom personnel and assign daily tasks based on production schedules
  • Oversee all shift operations, including product quality, housekeeping, and facility management
  • Review shift handoff notes, press logs, and communicate ongoing issues between shifts
  • Ensure presses are operating efficiently and troubleshoot printing or finishing issues as they arise
  • Monitor and adjust register, color, folds, glue, die cuts, perforations, and other specifications
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to address equipment repairs and ensure routine maintenance is completed
  • Train and develop pressroom staff on equipment, systems, and processes
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and proper use of PPE
  • Manage waste, spoilage, and production speeds to meet operational standards
  • Approve samples, color OKs, plate remakes, and time stamp accuracy
  • Support recovery efforts during equipment breakdowns or production disruptions
  • Communicate with internal teams and customers regarding production questions or issues
  • Complete and audit shift production reports, documenting any problems or variances
  • Provide performance feedback and support employee engagement and accountability
  • Assist with administrative responsibilities such as tracking time off and maintaining records
  • Handle after-hours calls and escalate issues as needed

Requirements
Qualifications
  • 10-15 years of experience in a web printing environment
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a 1st Pressman
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a pressroom preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of press systems, controls, and in-line finishing equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex press and personnel issues
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems and production tracking tools
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Solid math and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience using measuring and calibration equipment

Education & Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Degree in business, management, or related field preferred
  • Trade school or vocational training in printing or equipment operation is a plus
  • OSHA safety training required
  • Experience with data collection systems preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Full range of motion and ability to perform physical tasks in a production environment
