ABOUT THE ROLE
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Transfer Machine Operator in our Asphalt division.The transfer machine operator is responsible for efficiently and safely moving hot mix asphalt from delivery trucks to the paver, ensuring a consistent material flow for high-quality paving operations. They perform daily equipment checks, make minor adjustments as needed, coordinate with the paving crew, and maintain strict adherence to safety and job site procedures.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Operate asphalt transfer machines to move and distribute hot mix asphalt from trucks to pavers efficiently and safely
  • Monitor and control material flow to ensure consistent supply to the paving operation
  • Adjust machine settings and conveyor speed to maintain proper asphalt placement and minimize material loss
  • Coordinate with truck drivers, paver operators, and crew members to maintain smooth workflow
  • Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and minor troubleshooting on transfer equipment
  • Identify and report any mechanical issues or operational concerns to supervisors promptly
  • Follow project plans, job specifications, and safety protocols, including traffic control and hot mix handling procedures
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, ensuring proper handling of asphalt and equipment
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience operating asphalt transfer machines on commercial or highway projects
  • Travel Requirements: Daily travel required, Must have reliable transportation
  • Strong understanding of hot mix asphalt handling, material flow, and distribution techniques
  • Skilled in setting up, adjusting, and operating transfer equipment for efficient and precise asphalt placement
  • Ability to read and follow project plans, paving layouts, and job specifications accurately
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, minor troubleshooting, and equipment care
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with truck drivers, paver operators, and the paving crew to maintain smooth production
  • Commitment to strict adherence to job site safety protocols, traffic control, and hot mix handling procedures
  • Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to producing high-quality paving results while supporting the team

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
