Job description

Position Summary 

The Regional Vice President-General Manager, South Texas, reporting to the Division President, Southwest, West and Specialties, will be responsible for the overall strategy and execution of the aggregates and crushed concrete businesses in the South Texas Region, which includes all personnel, operations, and business arrangements in the Central Texas and Houston Districts. This role will ensure alignment of South Texas Region operational goals and key performance indicators with the division’s strategic objective, strategic imperatives, and key areas of focus, including delivering world class safety results and sustainable profit growth.

  • Develop and implement commercial and operational strategies which achieve desired business results.
  • Ensure effective prioritization and allocation of resources to accelerate continuous improvement efforts and improve business results.
  • Improve market positions and increase market participation throughout the region.
  • Establish and grow strong customer relationships throughout the region.
  • Oversee and provide strategic solutions for aggregate and asphalt operations, including capital projects, while ensuring alignment with profitability goals.
  • Drive initiatives that promote continuous improvement across priority sites to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Ensure good stewardship over the company's assets
  • Ensure all accounting rules of the corporation are adhered to and supported
  • Identify operational deficiencies and areas of opportunity for operational improvement
  • Lead business development activities and acquisition analysis and integration activities
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and permitting requirements, while actively engaging with the local community on any emerging issues. 
  • Secure needed permits and additional reserves to strengthen and enhance the durability of our positions across Pacific Region markets.
  • Perform all activities in accordance with Martin Marietta’s Mission, Vision and Values, and in compliance with the company’s policies, procedures and Code of Ethical Business Conduct.

Minimum Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, mining, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in mining, aggregates, or a related heavy industry, with a strong background in sales and operations management.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale commercial and operational teams, including supporting functions, across multiple markets and operating sites.
  • 7+ years’ experience in financial reporting, budgeting and planning

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Strong market development and customer relationship management skills
  • Strong working knowledge of aggregate commercial strategies and production processes.
  • Understanding of mining regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a proven ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong prioritization and decision-making skills, with the ability to drive strategic initiatives and adapt to changing market conditions.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel up to 35%
