1.POSITION SUMMARY

The Oil & Gas Design Lead is responsible for leading multidisciplinary design and drafting teams in the successful execution of engineering projects from concept through construction. This role provides technical leadership, coordinates project deliverables, manages resources and schedules, and ensures all design work complies with company standards, client requirements, industry codes, and regulatory requirements. The Design Lead works closely with Engineering, Project Management, and clients to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality solutions.

2.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and process design activities.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to designers and drafters.
  • Review design packages for quality, completeness, and constructability.
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to company drafting standards and engineering practices.
  • Help develop schedules and manpower loading with Design Manager
  • Forecast workload and staffing requirements.
  • Oversee/and participate in the development of:
        • P&IDs
        • General Arrangements
        • Plot Plans
        • Isometrics
        • Equipment Layouts
        • Pipe Supports
        • Structural Steel
        • Fabrication Drawings
        • As-Built Documentation
        • 3D Models
        • Reality Capture and Laser Scan Integration
  • Maintain quality control procedures for all design deliverables.
  • Ensure documentation complies with ISO and client quality requirements.
  • Promote standardization and best practices across projects.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings and design reviews.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout all design activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce rework.
  • Lead the development of detailed 2D and 3D designs for complex projects while providing technical direction, mentorship, and oversight to junior designers throughout all phases of project execution.
  • Responsible for working with and collaborating with remote resources at multiple offices.
  • Meet technical team department productivity and quality goals.
  • Work requires travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.


3.SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

4.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum level of 10 years experience designing engineered systems.
  • Experiences working at or with EPCMs, Producers and Midstream Companies
  • Strong technical/computer background

5. EDUCATION / DESIGNATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering Design Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Secondary Training in AutoCAD Plant 3D Design
  • A valid drivers license
  • A passport and eligible travel to Canada

6.LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Oral communicationthe individual speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills, and conducts meetings.
  • Written Communicationthe individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively, and can read and interpret written information.
