What You'll Do:

As a Digital Prepress Artist, you will plan and create electronical, digital art work files or screen print for production to meet customer specifications and related company project goals.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Receives customer and in-house designs and creates files based off of customer/production specifications while maintaining the integrity of the schedule with the team.
  • Prioritizes and adjusts work schedule in order to meet deadlines specified in job requests to ensure customer goals are met.
  • Determines size arrangement, image, or color changes of the client artwork to assure proper design for the finished product.
  • Performs preflight on artwork to determine accuracy, omissions, or additional requirements.
  • Maintains settings with the material color profiles, that align to the procedures, to ensure digital production accuracy.
  • Creates conceptual digital proofs and production blueprints for customer and company approval.
  • Alters illustrations to enlarge, reduce, or clarify image for accurate final production.
  • Communicates effectively within the Art Department and other departments within the Company in order to successfully complete jobs based upon client/production needs.
  • Collaborates and communicates with Sales and other departments to ensure projects meet customer and business expectations.
  • Reviews printed parts to determine if colors meet expectations, and ensures final production files match those of approved retains.
  • Maintains electronic files and archives of all computer created graphics for accurate record keeping.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Associates Degree in Graphic Design or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience: 3+ years of related experience in a printing and/or vinyl graphic production environment.
  • Certification(s): N/A
  • Functional Skills: Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and execute on work in an accurate way. Able to read, analyze, and interpret general computer processes, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Good working knowledge of basic mathematics functions. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and printing jobs. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, interpret color data, and draw valid conclusions while using common sense. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of computer instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Knowledge of both PC and MAC based computer programs. Must be fluent in Adobe Creative Suite products including Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Language Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from those within and outside the organization.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Self-starter who can work independently. High customer and quality focused. Excellent ability to build relationships and be collaborative with those internally and externally to meet the position needs. Creative and innovative to recognize an issue and work calmly to find a resolution. Strong focus on processes and following all Safety requirements.

Pay/Salary: Hourly position based on skills

Reports To: Art Director

Core Hours: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

Typical Work Week: M-F; 40 - 45 hours a week on average during peak times.

Direct Reports: None

Travel: Limited; less than 5%

Work/Environment: Manufacturing environment. Requires good vision with ability to see colors.
