Job description

Placement Type:
Temp to Perm
Salary:
$30-35 Hourly
Start Date:
Jun 8, 2026
We are seeking a detail-oriented Prepress Production Artist for our production facility in Dallas, TX. This role serves as the essential technical link between our design division and the final print output. While the creative team establishes the initial design and client debriefs, this position is responsible for the technical "final stop"-preparing flawless, print-ready files for a variety of large-format equipment.
Key Responsibilities
File Coordination: Access the creative server to download design layouts and all necessary high-resolution elements to the local production server.
Technical Preflight: Review layout files to ensure no elements have shifted and verify that all high-res images, Pantone colors, and gradients are correctly linked and intact.
Print Readiness: Finalize and send files to four primary machines: a 15-foot roll-to-roll printer, a 60 x 120 flatbed printer, a 10-foot roll machine, and cutting/finishing machines.
Troubleshooting: Act as the technical intermediary if issues arise during the printing process, collaborating with the floor manager to resolve file errors and resend corrected files to the press.
Quality Control: Apply a meticulous eye for accuracy to catch and fix technical errors through proper channels before they reach the printing stage.
Required Qualifications
Industry Experience: At least 2 years of experience working within the print industry, specifically in prepress or print production.
Software Mastery: Strong, proven expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, with specific proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat. Software training is not provided; candidates must be proficient upon hire.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the technical processes of large-format printing and file preparation.
Soft Skills: A cooperative, team-oriented attitude is essential. We are looking for someone who can work well within a team environment and is willing to help resolve problems as they arise.
Logistics & Compensation
Location: 100% on-site in Dallas, TX (includes free on-site parking).
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on expertise and the ability to eventually lead or manage a team.
Employment Type: Contract-to-hire. Candidates will be evaluated over a 3-month (520-hour) period prior to consideration for full-time conversion.
