Job description

Job Description: In-Shopper / Counter Worker

Location: Tucson, AZ

Company: Jimmy’s Pita & Poke

Job Summary

As an In-Shopper at Jimmy’s Pita & Poke, you are the face of the restaurant. You are responsible for providing high-energy customer service, accurately building custom pita bowls and poke bowls, and maintaining a pristine dining environment. This role requires a "fast-casual" mindset: speed, precision, and a friendly attitude are essential to ensuring every guest has a top-tier experience.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Greet & Engage: Provide a warm welcome to every guest. Assist customers in navigating the menu, explaining the differences between our signature Pitas, Poke Bowls, and Salads.

  • Order Management: Accurately take orders via the POS system, handle cash and credit transactions, and manage phone-in or online orders for pickup.
  • Expert Knowledge: Maintain a deep understanding of ingredients, including proteins (Ahi tuna, salmon, chicken, gyro), sauces, and dietary options (vegan, gluten-free).

Food Assembly & Preparation

  • Build-to-Order: Execute the "Jimmy’s Way" by building pitas and poke bowls with 100% accuracy, following specific portion sizes and recipes.

  • Quality Control: Ensure all ingredients on the line are fresh, properly chilled, and visually appealing.

  • Prep Support: Assist in light food prep, such as washing/cutting vegetables, replenishing toppings, and ensuring the beverage station is stocked.

Shop Maintenance

  • Cleanliness: Maintain a "sparkling clean" workstation. Regularly sweep, mop, and sanitize tables, counters, and restrooms.

  • Organization: Restock chips, drinks, and utensils. Ensure the "staging area" for delivery drivers is organized and orders are ready for quick hand-off.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Communication: Ability to speak clearly and listen effectively to customer requests in a loud, fast-paced environment.

  • Math Skills: Basic proficiency in addition and subtraction for cash handling.

  • Speed & Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours) and work quickly during "the rush."

  • Team Player: A positive, "can-do" attitude and the ability to pivot between tasks as needed.

  • Reliability: Consistent attendance and a professional appearance in compliance with the dress code.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

  • Constant standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive hand motions for food assembly.

  • Ability to work in an environment with varying temperatures (coolers/prep areas).

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay + tips.

  • Flexible scheduling (perfect for college students).

  • Employee meal discounts.

  • Opportunity for growth within a locally loved Tucson brand.
