Highline Premier FC

Highline Premier FC is seeking a passionate and experienced Goalkeeper Coach to lead position-specific training and support the development of goalkeepers throughout the club.

The Goalkeeper Coach will design and deliver developmentally appropriate training that builds technically proficient, confident, and tactically aware players. This position will also collaborate with team coaches to ensure goalkeepers are integrated into each team's style of play and overall development plan.

The ideal candidate is a positive, player-centered coach who enjoys working collaboratively and is committed to long-term player development. They should be organized, dependable, and able to create a training environment that is challenging, supportive, and appropriate for players of different ages and experience levels.

Position Details

Position: Goalkeeper Coach
Employment Type: Part-time, hourly
Reports To: Director of Coaching
Location: Burien, West Seattle, and surrounding communities
Schedule: Primarily weekday evenings and weekends, with additional seasonal events and programs as assigned

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver developmentally appropriate goalkeeper training sessions aligned with HPFC's curriculum and performance standards
  • Provide technical instruction in handling, shot-stopping, distribution, positioning, footwork, decision-making, and communication
  • Develop goalkeepers' confidence and ability to contribute to team possession and tactical play
  • Adapt training sessions to meet the developmental needs of different ages and levels of experience
  • Collaborate with Head Coaches and the Directors of Coaching to integrate goalkeepers into team training, tactics, and style of play
  • Provide clear, consistent, and age-appropriate feedback to players
  • Communicate professionally with players, families, coaches, and club staff
  • Support goalkeeper identification and player evaluations during tryouts and other assessment periods
  • Monitor player progress and communicate relevant observations to team coaches and club leadership
  • Create a safe, inclusive, organized, and high-energy training environment
  • Maintain appropriate attendance and player-development records as requested
  • Assist with the care, organization, and appropriate use of goalkeeper training equipment
  • Attend assigned training sessions, staff meetings, tryouts, camps, clinics, and club events
  • Follow HPFC policies, safety procedures, curriculum expectations, and professional standards
  • Maintain required certifications, training, and risk-management clearances
  • Contribute positively to HPFC's coaching culture and broader player-development environment
  • Perform other related coaching duties reasonably assigned by the Director of Coaching

HPFC provides a demanding, organized, and nurturing environment for players from U8 through U19. Our teams compete in the Regional Club League, Elite Academy League, and Washington Premier League.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least two years of goalkeeper playing or coaching experience
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor youth athletes
  • Experience working with players in individual, small-group, or team environments
  • Strong understanding of foundational goalkeeper techniques and principles
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with players, families, coaches, and staff
  • Strong organizational skills, dependability, and attention to player safety
  • Commitment to HPFC's mission, values, player-development philosophy, and professional standards
  • Ability to successfully complete all required background checks, SafeSport training, and other applicable risk-management requirements
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification within a timeframe established by HPFC
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years of competitive goalkeeping or goalkeeper coaching experience
  • Experience designing and delivering structured goalkeeper-specific training
  • Experience coaching goalkeepers across multiple age groups
  • U.S. Soccer Grassroots License or higher
  • Goalkeeper-specific coaching education or certification
  • Commitment to continued coaching education and professional development
Compensation, Benefits, and Additional Opportunities

The anticipated wage range for this position is $75 to $125 per hour.

Placement within the range will be based on relevant coaching experience, licensing, goalkeeper-specific qualifications, assigned responsibilities, and the scope of the goalkeeper training program.

Additional paid opportunities may be available through team coaching assignments, camps, clinics, tryouts, tournaments, and other seasonal programming. Additional assignments are not guaranteed and may have separate compensation rates.

  • Medical and dental insurance eligibility for employees regularly scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week

Physical and Scheduling Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Standing, walking, demonstrating, and coaching for extended periods
  • Performing goalkeeper movements and technical demonstrations appropriate to the position
  • Working outdoors in varying weather and field conditions
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 35 pounds
  • Working weekday evenings and weekends
  • Traveling reliably between training fields and club events in Burien, West Seattle, and surrounding communities
  • Residing in Washington State by the start of employment
