Preferred Materials - Asphalt, part of CRH Southeast Division of Companies, is the leader in production of high-quality hot mix and warm mix asphalt, and, with a team of skilled contracting professionals, Preferred Materials - Asphalt Division also offers design-build and conventional-bid-build solutions for roadway and civil construction projects.  Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, and with offices throughout Florida, Preferred Materials - Asphalt Division performs asphalt paving, grading, and related roadway services.  Our employees make Preferred Materials - Asphalt Division a great place to work.  We promote a strong safety culture, where employees take responsibility for their own safety.

We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Plant Loader Operator to effectively and safely operates articulated front end wheel loader for the purpose of stockpile management and material loading into feeder bins, to ensure proper supply of materials to the asphalt plant, trucks, and other assigned areas.

Job requirements include the following:

  • Ensure necessary supply of materials for asphalt plant is available.
  • Utilize a loader to transport materials to and from storage and processing areas.
  • Load trucks with proper materials and weight for delivery.
  • Inspect equipment prior to operation for any safety or maintenance issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the loader such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning. 
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of plant premises including but not limited to assisting with plant maintenance, shoveling, and grounds cleanup.
  • Assist with general labor at the plant site. Routinely assist other plant employees in different areas of production.
  • Reports any major maintenance or other plant related issues to plant manager.
  • Properly follow & promote all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • The job duties described herein are not exhaustive and may be supplemented


 Education/Experience

  • High school graduate with strong math skills and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as Asphalt Plant Operator
  • Experience with Astec double barrel components and gencor controls a plus.
  • Computer literate, experience with Microsoft Excel
