SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE


The Material Planner II is a key factory staff member responsible for product lines planning that support the Material Planning department within Kimber Manufacturing. This position will act on a daily basis to coordinate on-time deliveries for both released products as well as products in development. The Material Planner II will work in concert with cross-functional teams and other departments to provide support in achieving on-time quality goals defined and established by upper management.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Continually improve procedures and methods with a mind towards efficiency
  • Coordinate planning and scheduling activities from receipt of order through quality control in order to meet delivery schedules on time and at the highest possible quality
  • Manage the job loading to the manufacturing work cells to ensure a level capacity demand
  • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure materials arrive in a timely fashion to support manufacturing requirements
  • Interface with design and manufacturing engineers to manage the release of and ensure the timely and well-executed introduction of new products into standard production
  • Review ECNs, NCR’s and waivers to ensure compliance with the correct product revision levels and proper disposition of parts
  • Develop or maintain appropriate reports, files and measures to provide an accounting to management and appropriate work teams on the status of performance to schedule, delivery commitments, production problems, backlog, etc.
  • Establish priorities for production and common resource areas
  • Support physical inventories and cycle counts as required
  • As required, work with suppliers, purchasing team members and other planners
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations
  • Experience determining offsets and ability to adjust accordingly
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (word and excel)
  • Accurately make independent decisions on product disposition
  • Trouble shoot various problems and develop corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
  • Adhere and monitor SOP
  • Understand/ learn the nature and functionality of the products being handled
  • Effectively communicate and notify supervisor when there are functional or cosmetic discrepancies
  • Must be able to accurately input all required data into the manufacturing database
  • Complete other duties as assigned by manager


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience to include shop floor control and capacity planning
  • Ability to shift priorities based upon business demand
  • Knowledge of firearms; quality, features, safety, etc.
  • Demonstrable track record over a minimum of 5 years of successfully working in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Cross functional team builder/player with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm
  • Must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast work environment that has the potential to change due to regulatory and business needs
  • Need to be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to multi-task
  • Experience working independently with little supervision

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Computer/Software proficiency


Preferred:

  • APICS certification
  • Vocational/Technical Degree
  • Familiarity with MRP/ ERP systems


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret quality performance reports and create solutions. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY


This position requires various reasoning abilities in order to be successful such as:

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to perform complex and varied tasks
  • Ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks for an extended period of time


COMPUTER SKILLS


Required knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word using MS Windows platform. MS PowerPoint and Outlook.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS


This position may require travel occasionally.
