Job description

Juneau Construction Company is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to support our growing Atlanta, Georgia based Preconstruction team.

The Preconstruction Manager assumes the lead role in directing activities necessary to prepare best in class budget proposals and/or bids for prospective and current clients.

Position Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Construction Management, or related engineering discipline
  • 5 to 8 years minimum in commercial construction industry
  • 3 to 5 years minimum in the Preconstruction Segment, with two years managing large commercial construction projects ($50 million+)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead role managing $50 million+ budget proposals and supervising typically 3 person teams to provide comprehensive and complete estimates for projects
  • Mastery level of understanding and implementation of preconstruction standards and procedures
  • Collaborate with Operations team members on purchasing, strategies, procurement requirements and subcontractor selection
  • Provide design assist/constructability reviews for each phase of design development
  • Purchasing/preliminary subcontract language (scopes of work) in negotiations
  • Preliminary scheduling responsibility
  • Primary A/E/O point of contact during preconstruction phase
  • Marketing to and managing sub/vendor database (global and individual pursuits)
  • Lead budget presentations to clients
  • Manage the team to ensure complete and timely budget package delivery
  • Assist in development of fee strategy
  • Lead role in training other associates
  • Mentor developing members of Preconstruction team on requirements of budget proposals, COB creation, and subcontractor evaluation

Software Requirements:

Preconstruction Manger must become proficient in and be capable of training other employees in the use and execution of the following systems:

  • Subcontractor database management including solicitation creation and updates
  • On-Screen-Takeoff
  • Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • EarthWorksPro
  • Subcontractor solicitation and evaluation
  • Comparison-of-Bid (COB) reviews
  • P6/Primavera

Job Expectations:

  • Position may require extended periods of time sitting and/or standing, talking both in person and over technological avenues, lifting up to 20 lbs. as needed
  • Position may require travel within the Juneau Construction Company footprint to jobsites and additional office locations for various events and meetings as needed.
  • This role is hybrid in nature, with the opportunity to work in a remote capacity up to two days/week as applicable.
