Job description

Position Purpose:
Responsible for providing analysis and estimate approval for construction projects to ensure proposed plans/estimates reflect compliance with property standards, and whether the buildings as constructed conform to specifications and estimates of materials and cost for construction, alteration, remodeling, maintenance or repair of structures.   This role reports to our Construction team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply a practical knowledge of construction techniques and specifications to the analysis of existing housing or housing proposed for construction.
  • Review and approve contractor estimates.
  • Track and record job cost variances.
  • Gather photo documentation for all estimates.
  • Load documentation into various owner portals for approval.
  • Value engineer estimates.
  • Coach and educate estimators regarding client requirements.
  • Assist on other projects for construction/acquisition as assigned by the company.

Job Requirements (including Education):

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in MS Excel a must.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in the building and construction field.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and labor costs in construction, plus a good knowledge of the uses and costs of materials.
  • Ability to multi-task, which requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail and quality.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have a process improvement-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a professional manner.
  • A self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
  • A curiosity and desire to solve problems.
  • Proficient in construction-related software and strong knowledge of excel.
  • Results-oriented individual with the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
