Position Title: Sheet Metal Fabricator -2nd Shift Monday thru Thursday (4day/10hr schedule)

Location: St. Charles, MO

The Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, fitting, assembling, and finishing sheet metal components used in the construction of custom trailers, displays, and specialty vehicles. This role requires the ability to accurately measure, lay out, cut, bend, form, and assemble sheet metal while maintaining the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, and safety. Successful candidates possess strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and solid blueprint reading skills.

Craftsmen Industries offers a dynamic manufacturing environment where Sheet Metal Fabricators perform a variety of fabrication tasks and develop their skills across multiple manufacturing disciplines. Daily responsibilities may vary based on production schedules and customer requirements, requiring flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following company safety policies, OSHA standards, and proper use of PPE.
  • Perform sheet metal fabrication by measuring, laying out, cutting, bending, forming, fitting, and assembling components from engineering drawings.
  • Utilize strong blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering drawings, fabrication prints, and work instructions.
  • Operate press brakes, shears, rollers, punches, notchers, ironworkers, and other sheet metal fabrication equipment.
  • Complete precision sheet metal fabrication while maintaining quality standards and production schedules.
  • Verify dimensions using tape measures, calipers, squares, protractors, and other measuring tools.
  • Grind, deburr, sand, and finish fabricated components.
  • Install fabricated parts into completed assemblies.
  • Communicate drawing discrepancies and fabrication concerns to supervisors and engineering.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, metal forming, manufacturing, welding, or a related skilled trade; or equivalent technical education/training.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and fabrication prints.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes including cutting, bending, forming, fitting, and assembly.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team-oriented fabricator in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, and workplace safety.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Must demonstrate a consistent and stable work history.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to stand up to 8+ hours per day.
  • Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, balance, and reach overhead.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close and/or color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection.
  • Physically able to use Respiratory protection, as needed.
