Job Description: A Foreman is required to perform construction labor and supervisor duties. This will include but not limited to digging trenches and/or ditches, backfill and compacting in addition to skilled technical work that is related to the installation, maintenance, and operation of natural gas facilities which will be performed under the general foreman. As a foreman you will need to have complete supervision of the jobsite field operations which include, daily production, quality control, equipment maintenance and labor/subcontractor management. This also includes having proficient Safety skills, Quality workmanship and a Trustworthy reputation to provide the utmost degree of value in every task that you perform.
Responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement and manage construction tasks according to priorities and plans.
  • Assure all paperwork is filled out and handed in daily such as tailboards, billing spreadsheets, material/subcontractor tickets, DOT pre-trips inspections, QA/QC self- audits and timesheets.
  • Maintain a high level of expertise in the installation and repair of underground gas facilities.
  • Guide your crew with the construction and installation of natural gas mains and service lines utilizing various pipe joining methods.
  • Manage and monitor all crew members attendance and work ethic. If an employee has poor performance a PIP or write up must be performed immediately.
  • Thorough knowledge of the hazards associated with working around natural gas, heavy equipment at/near trenches and all the additional safety precautions.
  • The ability to navigate through the gas construction standards and O&Ms associated with each task that is being performed.
  • Operate construction equipment such as, Excavators, Skid Steers, Loaders, Etc.
  • Make sure your crew is maintaining the cleanliness of all company owned and rented vehicles/equipment. In addition, all the fluids need to be checked prior to operation and any fitting that requires grease needs to be checked and/or greased daily.
  • Inventory and inspect all vehicles and equipment daily to assure the maintenance and service is up to date. At the end each shift, it's the foreman's responsibility to assure everything is secured and safe on the jobsite and/or yard.
  • Lift/carry materials and performs other duties involving the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Adhere to the safety standards as defined by Precision Pipeline Solutions, safety standards and procedures.
  • Proper utilization of your Stop Work/Time Out Responsibility, this needs to be utilized when there is a change in work conditions that hasn't been communicated, when equipment is improperly used, or even if there is a lack of knowledge for a task that is being performed.
  • Possess or acquire required Columbia Gas Operator qualifications that are required to perform each task.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of company vehicle and adhere to company policies on vehicle usage.
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push and/or pull, twist and make repetitive hand movements. Ability to load, carry, lift, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Sitting or standing for prolonged period of time required. Must have the ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle.
  • Complies with all safety rules and regulations set forth by PPS

Qualifications:
  • Holds all Columbia A-Tech qualifications and 3-5 years' experience as a gas foreman.
  • Valid driver's license for at least 1 year.
  • Must have the ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push and/or pull, twist and make repetitive hand movements. Ability to load, carry, lift, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Sitting or standing for prolonged period of time required
  • Effective communication skills and ability to speak clearly with team members
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to act with integrity and respect of personal and public property
  • Ability to work in all types of weather
