Job Description: A Heavy Equipment Operator is required to perform heavy equipment operation as part of the PPS construction crew. This will include but not limited to mobilizing equipment at jobsites, operating excavators, backhoes, front-end loader, pavement rollers and skid-steers. Must be willing to listen, learn and communicate with Project manager, Superintendent, Foreman, or other General laborers to complete tasks and overall job successfully. This also includes having proficient Safety skills, Quality workmanship and a Trustworthy reputation to provide the utmost degree of value in every task that you perform.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures utilizing the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Thorough knowledge of the hazards associated with working around natural gas, heavy equipment at/near trenches and all the additional safety precautions.
  • Operate and fuel all construction equipment that is being utilized to perform a task, Excavator, Loader, Etc.
  • Must maintain the cleanliness of all company owned and rented vehicles/equipment. In addition, all the fluids need to be checked prior to operation and any fitting that requires grease needs to be checked and/or greased daily.
  • Perform general labor duties as needed by the foreman.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Physically able to operate heavy equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Adhere to the safety standards as defined by Precision Pipeline Solutions, safety standards and procedures.
  • Proper utilization of your Stop Work/Time Out Responsibility, this needs to be utilized when there is a change in work conditions that hasnโ€™t been communicated, when equipment is improperly used, or even if there is a lack of knowledge for a task that is being performed.
  • Thorough knowledge of the hazards associated with working around natural gas, heavy equipment at/near trenches and all the additional safety precautions.
  • Must be willing to listen, learn and communicate effectively with the foreman and other general laborers to complete each given task and overall job successfully.
  • Lift/carry materials and performs other duties involving the use of hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to hand dig with a shovel and dig bars.
  • Avoiding the use of a cell phone while working, operating equipment and driving
  • Conduct yourself in a safe manner and be mindful of team members safety as well
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team environment

Qualifications:

  • Valid driverโ€™s license for at least 1 year. CDL Class A is a plus
  • Must have the ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push and/or pull, twist and make repetitive hand movements. Ability to load, carry, lift, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Sitting or standing for prolonged period of time required
  • Effective communication skills and ability to speak clearly with team members
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to act with integrity and respect of personal and public property
