Job description

Compensation Type: Hourly
Compensation: $25.00
The Preceptor provides secondary instruction to students who are placed in an experimental learning environment. This role is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and correcting students in their learning experience, ensuring students utilize acquired skills in practical setting. The Preceptor engages in regular feedback with the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) faculty and department chair, in both formal and informal meetings, to communicate progress in meeting student learning outcomes. This position is responsible for filing in during peak capacity periods, and this position may play a larger role, as operation needs dictate, in facilitating the working aspects of the EMT operations.
Student Engagement
  • Monitors students in patient care settings. Provides hands-on real time instruction and feedback to students.
  • Rates student performance based on established guidelines.
  • Engages students in a participatory instructional style as part of their experiential learning experience.
  • Provides guidance and enforces the departments mission, policies and procedures with regards to their assigned areas.
  • Acts as a role model and resource to students in their assigned areas.
  • Performs minor repairs and cleans equipment to maintain good working order and collaborates with Facilities for repairs, as needed.
  • Maintains biohazardous materials in accordance with policy to ensure safety. Organizes and labels supply storage, ensuring availability of supplies for students and faculty.
  • Monitors and maintains records of supplies used and needed.
  • Ensures practices are in accordance with requirements for pharmacy license approval.

Clerical & Administrative
  • Completes student evaluation as outlines by department chairperson.
  • Attends all required meetings to provide feedback on student learning outcome goals.
  • Attends all required trainings and workshops.
  • Communicates frequently with the faculty and department chair on the needs of students as they fulfill their learning requirements.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records, information, and sensitive conversations encountered.

Culture of Respect
  • Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains current healthcare provider CPR Certification.
  • Participates in courses, faculty, and staff meetings as needed.
  • *Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of professional experience
  • *An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Normal classroom and office working conditions. Will be required to travel to off-site locations to supervise students.
