Job description

The Credentialing Specialistย is responsible forย coordinating and managing provider and facility credentialing, enrollment, recredentialing, and payer participation activities for Americaโ€™s Rehab Campus (ARC). This position works closely with AHCCCS, commercial insurance carriers, and internal departments to ensure providers and facilitiesย remainย compliant, credentialed, and eligible for billing and network participation.ย 

The Credentialing Specialistย maintainsย accurateย credentialing records, monitorsย expirationย dates and regulatory requirements,ย submitsย applications and updates, andย assistsย with compliance and audit readiness. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of AHCCCS and behavioral health credentialing requirements, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple deadlines and priorities.ย 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESย 

  • Complete and manage provider credentialing and recredentialing applications with AHCCCS, commercial insurance carriers, and contracted networksย 

  • Coordinate facility credentialing, enrollment, and updates for behavioral health programs and locationsย 

  • Maintain credentialing files and ensure all required documentationย remainsย current and compliantย 

  • Monitorย expirationย dates for licenses, certifications, malpractice insurance, DEA registrations, CAQH attestations, and other required credentialsย 

  • Submit and track AHCCCS provider enrollment applications, updates, and revalidationsย 

  • Work with insurance payersย regardingย contracting, participation status, and credentialing follow-upย 

  • Maintain provider records within credentialing databases and internal tracking systemsย 

  • Verify provider credentials including licenses, education, certifications, NPI numbers, sanctions, exclusions, and background screening requirementsย 

  • Coordinate with HR, Compliance, Revenue Cycle, and Operationsย regardingย onboarding and credentialing statusย 

  • Assistย with audits, surveys, and compliance requests related to credentialing documentationย 

  • Maintain knowledge of AHCCCS requirements, payer standards, and behavioral health credentialing regulationsย 

  • Communicate credentialing updates and deficiencies to leadership and providersย in a timely mannerย 

  • Ensure credentialing timelines are met to avoid interruptions in billing or payer participationย 

QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS,ย AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:ย 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent requiredย 

  • Minimum of 2 years of credentialing experienceย requiredย 

  • Experience with AHCCCS provider enrollment and behavioral health credentialing strongly preferredย 

  • Knowledge of provider and facility credentialing processes for commercial and government payersย 

  • Experience with CAQH, NPPES/NPI Registry, sanction monitoring, and license verification systemsย 

  • Understanding of healthcare compliance standards and payer requirementsย 

  • Experience credentialing behavioral health providers and facilitiesย 

  • Familiarity with Joint Commission and AHCCCS compliance requirementsย 

  • CPCS, CPMSM, or related credentialing certification preferred but notย requiredย 

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skillsย 

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize workload independentlyย 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skillsย 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, credentialing software, and electronic document management systemsย 

  • Ability toย maintainย confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriatelyย 

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience inย behavioral healthย field preferredย 

  • Successful clearance of pre-employment criminal/county/state background checkย 

  • Successful clearance of pre-employment drug and alcohol testingย
